Were you at Winterland December 72?
And if so, were you hanging out in the balcony being bored , or down on the floor dripping with sweat and grooving off to every note and nuance of the magic?

one of the true deaf dumb and blind ones here .Most of you guys got it . I'm listening to them right now but to say you've never seen a bad one or called it one of those slow ones. Heres one for you, tuning stage banter ,trying to stay in tune stage banter drums space and we bid you goodnight.

Hey, just trying to lighten things up, not taking a poke at you. As we have so few witnesses here to those earlier times, I was also half serious too. I am truly sorry that you found the band so disappointing, but believe me, you ain’t the first to tell us that.

A veteran head myself (of a certain era...first show: 1979 (w/Keith & donna; last show: 1994)...I agree wholly...when they were bad, they were REALLY bad...the evidence is right here on the archive. Still--I never had a "bad time" at any show I attended, which also says something about the atmosphere Deadheads created for these musical events (and that's what they were).

That said, the flip side is true: When they were on, they were the BEST live band I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of heavy hitters (Who, Stones, Pretenders, Clapton, Meters, etc.)..in terms of sheer improvisational inspired aural ecstacy, the Dead remain un-matched.

Not me (I wish too!) – didn’t get to see the boys until after that Brent character came along. I was referring to yesterday/today’s MOTB post by mentioning Winterland.
I had a few more thoughts today regarding that thread, but instead of getting into that mix I just took a stab at humor. Perhaps it was inappropriate to use a reply to our newcomer in such a fashion. But negative first posts have a tendency to open the floodgates anyway. peace be with ye brother monk.

Heard it for the first time myself last night. That LiA guy always piques my interest.

Be forewarned though – the Dark Star is long and (insert adjective of your choice here).
